Also known as the Anemiewatigoing Native American Cemetery
(don't ask me to pronounce that!!)
I love to explore really old cemeteries so when the Spouse & I were on vacation in northern Michigan this past September, we found this beautiful little cemetery on a back road near Cross Village.
Don't quote me, but this is likely Odawa (Ottawa) Indians.
I came to this conclusion because our hotel in Petoskey was right next to the Odawa Tribal Police Station. They're about 25 miles apart, but it's still likely.
Find a Grave says there are 81 memorials, but only 35% photographed. Probably because most of the markers are wooden. There are very few stone markers and most of them are either women or military.
Most of the crosses were in the main part of the cemetery where it was well maintained, but others were out more in the woods.
