Yankee Candle part 1

I'm calling this part 1 since I got my Boney Bunch fix the easy way - I bought the ones I really wanted online (at like 6am because I got up to let the dog out) and they obviously won't be here for a while.  That'll be part 2.

Yesterday was my birthday, so the family humored me by tagging along wherever I wanted to go.   First stop was breakfast, then to the mall to check out whatever Boney Bunch stuff they had left.  A few other stops in the mall to browse, then I'd planned on dropping Randy off at home, then Angel and I going to get our nails did, but once I got home...I felt a nap calling me.  A glorious 3 hour nap.  It was beautiful.

So here's what I came home with.  Seeing this stuff in person is what sold me.  The website didn't do them justice.
And I sure as hell don't want to buy candles without smelling them!  I don't like really strong smells and it's really hard to tell by the flowery descriptions.  The website describes  the Black Magic candle as "A provocative mix of black leather, patchouli, smoky incense and sweet vanilla...all cloaked in musk and eerily mysterious."  I smelled baby powder and something else.  I'll have to burn it to see how it really is.
I love how this votive holder glows like it's already burning!
 It's super shiny inside.
And this is the candy bowl that you could get for $10 is you spent $35.
This piece is actually from 2011 - I bought it off someone who had posted on a FB page that they were selling their collection.

It amazes me how crazy these people went on FB.  They acted like the sale would never get here and then life would be over if they didn't buy every single piece.  Weird, peoples!

So now it's time to go get my pedicure.  It's been WAY too long since I had one!

More skeletons!

The Boney-Love family is growing!

First, in early August, I got a pose & stay from At Home ($50 for the same one Michaels is selling for $80!!).  I'm going to compare this with one they used to carry a few years ago.  But that post is for the CountdownToHalloween.
And a couple new 3' skellies.  The green guy I got from Michaels today.  The normal colored one is a 3 foot pose & stay from Joann Fabrics!  I grabbed both for 40% off.

I've never seen a small pose & stay before and I cringed at the $40 price tag, but with the 40% sale and an additional 20% coupon.....that was do-able.  Maybe I'll do a review of all my little guys, too?
I got Beagle Bonez earlier this year.  The 2 cats and the rat are all new.
 SQUIRREL !
Damn rodent ate my sunflowers again!  The bastard.
Jack didn't quite know what to think of the cats.....

Chillin' in the window with Maddie.
 Grooming with Chester.

I started this post shortly before midnight and now it's Saturday, August 29.....It's MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I'm going to pop over to the Yankee Candle website and see if I can get any of the Boney Bunch pieces that I like (there's only 2 that I want and 1 is a web exclusive).  I plan on going to the preview party at the mall tomorrow, but it would be nice to have already bought the ones I really want.  Since Randy is not the most inspired of gift givers, he said my Boneys can be my birthday gift.  That works for me!

edit....from what I saw online - the sale goes live at 9am EST.  Damn.  I'm going to bed.

Canterbury Village

Woohoo!  A store review of Halloween stuff that hasn't been done 47 times already!

This morning, the hubby is gone for the day (Michigan people - it's Woodward Dream Cruise time!) and Miss Angela wanted to go "do" something.  So I suggested going to Always Christmas at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion. Surprisingly, she agreed! I rewarded her afterward with a stop at the giant mall that's right there, too - Great Lakes Crossing.

This used to be the hugest store outside of Bronners, but they condensed down into 3 smaller buildings - one of all Department 56 stuff, one of ornaments (a lot of German mouth blown ones that I don't care for) and the one with furniture & lamps & nativities & Halloween - because those totally go together, right?!!

Let me digress for a moment.  I saw 1 lonely freakin' nutcracker in a display.  Seriously people?  You're a Christmas store - why do you NOT carry nutcrackers???

So anyhoooo, the sign in the Halloween section said truthfully that they carry non-scary things.  And it's true.  This guy was probably the scariest thing we saw.
Except for this Santa!  Angel tried to tell me he was turned out in the ballet 1st position, but I disagree.  What's up with the one huge leg?
So here was the first view....oh the glorious oranges, greens & purples!

The gray and brown spools in the basket are chicken wire!  But for $6.99?
The basket on the left has ornaments about the size of my hand, but flattened.
The had spider webs painted on them.
All of the shiny orange balls are plastic.
I didn't play with the witch to see if she was one that rose up -
here she stood around waist-height.
I was disappointed in the 3 foot skeletons.  Altho the plastic was heavy & sturdy feeling, the limbs were attached with wire so they didn't hang right - wouldn't pay $35 for them.  If I needed any more little guys, I'd go to Michaels.
I liked this guy's face and his black cat hanging on the bowl.
 Lots of wired ribbon.
The plush JOL scarecrows I saw in a different building for $5.
I should have gotten another picture directly to the left - they had a pretty neat black willow tree.  You can see part of it here.  Would look awesome on a mantle or table in a foyer.
Oh if I had a bigger house!
The candy corn box (lower right) is pretty neat.
They had some really different black wire trees.  Very sturdy.
The sconces were pretty cool.  Looks like they could hang up or down.
I thought this was a cool idea.  A small black tree hanging from the ceiling with spider webs & black twigs....
For not having "scary" things- the witches were all pretty creepy in their own right.
One of the buildings at Canterbury Village looks like a castle, so these guys must have been banished from there, to stand in the corner.
 Plastic ornaments
I liked this glass spider.  I think it was $5.95 or $6.96.
All of their ornaments ran for close to that.
 Happy little ghostie.
 Happy mummy
and the cutest werewolf I've ever seen!

Is it me or do the brooms like like giant doobies?

So, altho I enjoyed browsing, I didn't buy anything.  So far I'm making good on my vow to take it easy on the buying this year.  But of course - I haven't gone anywhere I really want to shop at yet!  Most of the places I like to stop at (At Home, Halloween City, Hobby Lobby, Pier One, Marshalls, HomeGoods and now Kirklands) are all over by Angel's dance studio and since she drives herself now....I would have to make a special point of going over there!
